De-escalation Skills

The De-Escalation curriculum is founded upon the fundamental concepts of respect, support, prevention, and the mutual relationship. Peers will be provided with an array of effective non-violent skills that are designed to promote person-centered and recovery-based approaches. Peers will leave the workshop with skills and strategies for supporting someone whose behavior may escalate, while preserving the helping alliance.
Sharon Holmes has over 20 years of business consulting experience and education. She holds a master’s degree in Education from SIUC, IL, a graduate certificate in Human Resources from Chapman University now Brandman University in Orange, CA, and an Associate of Art and Science Degree from Pierce College, Lakewood, WA. She is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Professional (CDPT).
Sharon has experience as a recovery educator, peer supporter, and manager in the behavioral health industry. Her varied experiences give her an advantage for designing and implementing programs. Sharon is the owner of Ms. SharCo LLC and Inspiring Here & Now LLC. She works with Holding the Hope providing coordination of Washington State’s state-wide continuing education campaign.
In addition to organizing the program, Sharon is also a gifted trainer and facilitator. She is an Advanced Level WRAP co-facilitator and Certified Therapeutic Options trainer and wrote and delivered several more continuing education curricula for peer supporters. Sharon is passionate about educating others. She sees the power of education as a tool to work for other as it has for her. The focus of her work continuing to be teaching, consulting and advocating.
